FCC Equipment Authorization Database
Part 95 Radio Grants
Every radio legally sold for personal radio services in the United States holds an FCC Grant of Equipment
Authorization. This catalog tracks authorized equipment under 47 CFR Part 95 across GMRS, FRS, CB, and MURS.
Under FCC rules, no two-way radio may be imported or offered for sale in the United States without a Grant of
Equipment Authorization from the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology (OET). The grant is the definitive legal
record of what the transmitter was tested and certified for: which rule subpart, which frequency boundaries, and
what output power levels.
A commercial radio certified strictly under Part 90 for private land mobile radio has not thereby been certified
under Part 95 Subpart E for GMRS, regardless of retail descriptions or frequency ranges. Checking the official
FCC ID and filing confirms whether hardware is certified for legal operation in personal radio services.
